2016 Year-Round Camping
2016 was the first year I dedicated myself to camping during every month. It's not that I couldn't do it before; it was more that I hadn't made it a priority to try. It was fun to successfully camp out at least once a month for the first time, and once I was done I committed myself to keeping the tradition going.
A photo collage below shows off how things looked throughout the year. Here's where I went:
-
January: Point Abbaye
-
February: Cut-over woods near the CopperDog 150 sled dog race
-
March: Lake of the Clouds overlook, Porcupine Mountains
-
April: Black River Harbor area, Ottawa National Forest
-
May: Hacking Site, Ottawa National Forest
-
June: Southern end of Portage Lake
-
July: Michigan Tech Trails with the Leave No Trace Traveling Trainers
-
August: Island on Sucker Lake, Ottawa National Forest (forgot my tent in bug season!)
-
September: Sturgeon River Gorge Wilderness Area, Ottawa National Forest
-
October: Norwich Bluff, Ottawa National Forest
-
November: "The Bluff" south of Ewen area, Ottawa National Forest
-
December: Silver Mountain, Ottawa National Forest
